The Ultimate Insulating Render System
The ThermoSilicone Render System has been formulated to offer an exceptional set of characteristics that make it the obvious choice when considering a render finish for external walls. It combines for the first time the very best elements of traditional render products with the most recent advances in thermal materials manufacturing and draws on decades of product development and manufacturing experience.
The "heavy-lifting" on the insulation side of things is provided by the ultra-lightweight expanded Perlite in the base layer of ProofTherm which creates an uninterrupted, highly-efficient thermal barrier to heat conduction. This highly vapour-permeable layer allows the building to breathe and helps manage damp and moisture problems in older buildings
This thermally efficient base coat is finished-off with a breathable, silicone mineral top-coat that utilises ceramic microspheres to further disrupt the path of heat transfer. When we increase the thermal resistance of our walls, less heat can travel through them in either direction, so we reduce heat-loss in Winter and heat-gain during the Summer.
What is a render "system"?
A render "system" is how we describe the collection of individual components that go into making up the whole system that used to render an external wall. The ThermoSilicone Render System is made up of the elements illustrated below:
- Uni Primer: A breathable primer that helps stabilise difficult substrates and which helps to control the adhesion and curing speed of the next layer
- ProofTherm: The award-winning, Perlite based, breathable, insulating base coat. Typically applied at 25mm+ and with an incredible thermal conductivity (λ) of 0.058W/mK
- ProofBond Emulsion Primer: Flexible and breathable primer that prepares the ProofTherm layer for finishing off
- ThermoSilicone Thin Coat: The innovative Silicone finishing render formulated with ceramic microspheres for enhanced durability and thermal performance
Regular render products have two functions; they provide a weatherproof and decorative finish for external walls.
ThermoSilicone render provides a decorative, weatherproof finish but it also insulates which means reduced heating costs in Winter and a cooler, more comfortable home in Summer.
Thermal Resistance
Heat loss through the walls of our homes occurs primarily because of poor “thermal resistance”. Put simply, un-insulated walls allow heat to travel by conduction from the interior to the exterior without much resistance. The ThermoSilicone Render System uses ultra-lightweight expanded Perlite in its base layer to create an uninterrupted, highly-efficient thermal barrier to heat conduction.
